DC bound Whitney Houston played it low key at LAX sporting a fur coat, and the latest head wear from the Obama winter collection.

No word on whether she'd be doing any official singing at the Inauguration.

Whitney to sing at Clive's Pre-Grammy Party?

Whitney Houston, who has a comeback album coming out in March, will sing this year at her discoverer, Clive Davis's, fabled pre-Grammy party, which may be his last one. [New York Magazine]

This could be the last year for Clive Davis' legendary pre-Grammy party. Last week, he announced he'd throw the $1 million-plus gala next month, not with its usual sponsor - Davis' company, Sony Music Group - but with the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), which hands out the Grammys. An insider said, "Sony told Clive it wasn't going to pay for the party this year. It was a bad year for them, and [Sony chief] Howard Stringer feels the party doesn't help sell any albums and only serves to promote Clive's ego . . . Clive then tried to get his own sponsors but couldn't, so NARAS stepped in. But forget about next year. It's over," said our source. Last year, Alicia Keys, Fergie, the Foo Fighters and Leona Lewis performed. This year, Whitney Houston, a Davis discovery in the '80s, will sing. Her comeback album drops in March. Reps for Davis and Sony didn't return calls. [NY Post]

Whitney in Tree Sounds Studio

Not everyone took the time off - some used it to their advantage. Down in Atlanta, rocker Sir Ivan was just finishing up the photo shoot for his new album “I Am Peaceman” at Tree Sounds Studio where he shot the pilot for his reality series with four-time Emmy winner Jim Brown, when he was informed that he would have to step on it. Seems Whitney Houston and her extremely large, even by music world standards, entourage had suddenly shown up to put some finishing touches on a few songs for her new album, the first collaboration with her mentor, Clive Davis, in five years. The album, which was due to be released in November, will now turn up in January. The gallant Sir Ivan deferred to the singer noting he was just “Sir” but she was “The Queen.

Whitney Houston: The once dominant pop and R&B singer's last new album came out in 2002, but executive producer Clive Davis says her career, interrupted by domestic and substance abuse issues, will resume in 2009. "The process has begun," Davis says of Houston's next album, which reportedly includes collaborations with Ne-Yo, Akon, will.i.am. R. Kelly and John Legend, among others. "We've always said we were looking towards the end of the first quarter of (2009). I do feel good about the material we have and what's been going on."

Whitney Houston denies reunion with ex Bobby Brown

Whitney Houston has issued a statement denying the rumors of a reunion with Bobby Brown.
Acting on behalf of Houston, the singer's publicist Nancy Seltzer calls speculation that the exes are getting back together "a complete fabrication."
Seltzer pinpoints the rumors to a report in Wednesday's Chicago Sun-Times that said Houston and Brown had been spotted out and about in Georgia looking romantic.
Houston and Brown divorced in April 2007 after 14 years of marriage. During their tumultuous union, Brown was arrested on drug and alcohol charges, and Houston twice entered drug rehabilitation programs. Houston has custody of their teenage daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

WHITNEY HOUSTON - HOUSTON SUED BY STEPMOTHER

27 Nov 2008 by Keisha

WHITNEY HOUSTON's stepmother is lining up a court battle with the pop superstar over money she claims she's owed from her late husband's will.
The singer was made a beneficiary to her dad's estate when John Houston died in 2003 at the age of 82 - but Barbara Houston alleges she is entitled to a share of her late husband's estate - and she never received it.

In a lawsuit filed in May (08), Barbara alleges her stepdaughter was instructed to use John Houston's $1 million (GBP666,000) life insurance policy to pay off the mortgage on his apartment and hand over the title to the property and any remaining funds.

In the court papers, obtained by TMZ.com, Barbara insists she has not received a cent from the star.
Whitney has denied all the claims.

David Foster will always love Whitney

11 Nov 2008 by Keisha

David Foster, the great Canadian song-enabler, has worked with ’em all, but he retains a special place in his heart for one Whitney Houston.

When he collaborated with the superstar songbird way back when on the soundtrack of The Bodyguard, Foster enjoyed that rare kind of lightning-in-a-bottle-success. “In the months and years that followed,” Foster writes in his new memoir, Hitman (Simon & Schuster), he often heard I Will Always Love You “described as the ‘the love song of the century,’ and I’m not going to argue with that.”

Whether you loved or hated it, the producer goes on, “the song made you feel, and at the end of the day that’s what it’s all about.”

When the Grammys came around in 1994, “all hell broke loose.” Record of the year. Album of the yar. Best female pop vocal performance. Producer of the year. David and Whitney. Whitney and David. Together, they cleaned up.

It’s fascinating to read — especially in the light of all the Whitney drama that was to follow — Foster’s take now on the then-nascent performer. “A revelation,” he says she was in the studio. Also, a challenge. And get this: “You could feel she was in the room before you saw her, and you knew she was gone even if you hadn’t seen her leave.”

And what about Bobby Brown, her future husband and then future ex? Foster says he was “there all the time,” in the control room, “egging her on.” He goes on: “They were inseparable and fuelled each other with their manic energy, and she missed Bobby whenever he left the studio.”

For the record, the great Canadian impresario insists here, “I didn’t see any hint of abuse, or of drugs, but they certainly seemed addicted to each other. They loved each other to a point of serious co-dependency, and when Bobby was gone too she’d begin to fade. Maybe it was love’s version of the shakes.”
